hi, well, my story started april21st, 1981. while at work a a conveniant (cant spell anymore)i was attached by 4 men with base ball bats intent on killing me. why, i don't know. i was beat in the head over 200 times, cracking my skull from the top of my head to the bottom of my chin. including breaking my upper and lower front teeth. thank God they healed. the 10inch gash left in my head was right over my left frontal cortex. leaving me with my 1st TBI. i pray constantly for our men and woman coming home from Iraq and Afghanistan with these injuries. for it may take years for the damage to rear it's ugly head. i had/have epilepsy at the time. not sure if i still do, yet. the injury took it's first toll by causing me a severe case PTSD. which i still suffer with today. my first drs. to treat me,besides a neurologist was a psychiatrist. she indicated the ptsd. made sense. we moved home(this all happend out of state in Florida)6 months later back to family and hopefully a job and a normal peaceful life. that wasn't the case. i was able to work on and off for 7 years providing a poor modest income for my family. then the PTSD kicked in (kinda phase 2 of brain injury. i was put on S.S.D. income through my doctors in 1988. now, try being 29 with a wifie and 2 daughters and being paid by the government. not how i was brought up. i felt horrible. (phase 2 of brain injury, depression). we made it through somehow. finally b buying a home in 1991. needed lots of work. but that's ok. so for the next 18 years i seem to be doing pretty well. then in the summer of 2009 (phase 3 of brain injury) the what we know now as PBA reared it's monstrous head.
